Devil's Food Cake

Ingredients

• Melt one-half cake of chocolate
• in one cup boiling water
• add one teaspoonful of soda
• Cream together three-fourths cup butter
• and three cups sugar
• add four eggs beaten separately
• Add four cups of swansdown flour
• and one cup of buttermilk
• one tablespoonful of vanilla

Method

   Melt the chocolate in boiling water and add soda.

   Cream the butter and sugar together, then add the eggs.

   Mix in the melted chocolate, flour, buttermilk, and vanilla.

   Bake in layers.
