Date Nut Loaf Cake

Ingredients

• + C. Butter
• 1 tsp. Baking Powder
• 1 C. Brown Sugar
• 1 tsp. Vanilla
• 3/4 tsp. Soda
• Grated rind 1 orange
• 1/3 C. Milk
• 1 C. Nuts, chopped
• 1 Lb. Dates (put through food chopper)
• 2 C. Flour
• 1 Egg

Method

   Cream butter well, add sugar gradually and beat until light; add egg and beat lightly again.

   Dissolve soda thoroughly in the milk.

   Sift flour with baking powder and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.

   Add vanilla, orange rind, nuts and dates.

   Pour into greased loaf tin and bake in moderate oven at 350 for 55 minutes or until it tests done.
