Coffee Rolls

Ingredients

• Two cups of milk
• one and a half yeast cakes
• butter
• lard
• sugar
• flour
• one egg
• one-half teaspoonful of cinnamon
• one teaspoonful of salt
• melted butter
• confectioners' sugar
• vanilla

Method

   Scald milk; when lukewarm add yeast cakes; as soon as dissolved add 3.5 cups of flour.

   Beat thoroughly, cover, and let rise; then add butter, lard, sugar, egg, cinnamon, salt, and flour enough to knead.

   Knead until well mixed, cover, let rise, roll into a rectangular piece 0.25 inch thick, brush with melted butter, fold, cut, let rise, twist, shape in coils, place in buttered pans, cover, let rise, and bake for 20 minutes.
