Cleaning Mixture

Ingredients

• 1 lb. of powdered whitening
• 1 lb. of soft soap
• 1 lb. of silver sand
• 1 quart hot water

Method

   Mix the whitening with the water and put them into a saucepan with the soap.

   Bring to the boil over the fire and simmer for 10 minutes.

   Remove from the fire, cool slightly, stir in the sand, and stir occasionally until nearly cold to prevent the sand from sinking.

   Pour into a jar or tin and use as required.
