Cathartic Tincture

Ingredients

• Senna 2 ounces
• Jalap 1 ounce
• Fennel seed 1 ounce
• Whisky 1 quart
• add 1 pound white sugar

Method

   Mix the Senna, Jalap, Fennel seed, and Whisky.

   Let stand for 12 days, strain, and add the white sugar.

   Dose for a child 2 to 12 years is a tea-spoonful every 2 hours until bowels move; for an adult, 2 table-spoonfuls every 3 or 4 hours until desired effect is produced.
