Aunt Emery's Maple Cake 1/4 cup pastry flour (sifted) J^ cup milk 2}^ teaspoonsful baking powder }/2 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoonful vanilla 2 eggs Beat the eggs separately. Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten yolks, then beaten whites, milk and flour (to which baking powder has been added), lastly vanilla. Bake in layer tins and use the following icing. Maple Icing 1 lb. maple sugar 1 cup of cream Break sugar in pieces and pour over it the cream. Put on stove and bring to boil. Boil until it forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water. Take from stove and beat with a wooden spoon for 15 minutes.
