Apples Baked with Butter

Ingredients

• one-half cup of sugar
• two ounces of butter
• one-half cup of water
• apples (which have been quartered, pared, and cored)

Method

   Cover the bottom of a granite pie plate with melted butter.

   Lay in quartered, pared, and cored apples to fill the dish.

   Sprinkle sugar over them and cook slowly in the oven till tender.

   Alternatively, make a syrup with butter, sugar, and water, and baste whole apples with it while baking.
