Apple Cake

Ingredients

• one and one-half cupfuls of sugar
• a large half cupful of butter
• two eggs
• one-half cupful of sweet milk
• two cupfuls of flour
• one teaspoonful of cream tartar
• a half teaspoonful of soda

Method

   Stir together the sugar and butter, add the eggs beaten separately, milk, flour with cream tartar and soda.

   Put in jelly-cake tins, cover with sliced apples, and bake.

   When done, put melted butter or whipped cream on the apple and sift powdered sugar over all.
