Ale-Berry (Scotch Brown Caudle). — Mix two large spoonfuls of oatmeal groats in a little water, and gradually add to it half a pint of boihng beer or porter ; pour the mixtm-e into a saucepan, and boil it ; grate a little whole ginger into it, and any seasoning which may be pre- ferred ; sweeten it to taste
