The stimulation due to the salt is exerted through the nerve endings and communicated to the whole body, although no salt is absorbed through the skin. Follow the directions given below, if you want to know the true joy of bathing: (1) For a gorgeously alive, satin-like skin:—Draw a tub of hot water. Relax in it for 5 minutes. Then, when your pores are wide open from perspiration, take handfuls of Worcester Salt and massage it thoroughly into your body, your arms and your legs. Now rinse in cool water and your body will be glowingly alive, immaculately clean and sweet—and your skin will be smooth, almost satin-like to the touch. (2) For eliminating body.odor:—Salt is the perfect body odor purifier. Unlike tales, medicated soaps and patent creams, it does not cover up one odor with another or “bottle up” the pores. Instead it removes the cause of body odor by softening, breaking up and removing scales and crusts from the epidermis and so purifying the pores, leaving the body immaculately sweet and clean. For removal of body odor follow same procedure as in Direction No. 1 above or if you must rush and have no time for a bath, simply wet a wash cloth in hot water, cover with salt and massage under the arm-pits and other body parts where odor forms first. Then rinse the cloth and remove the salt. Body odor will be gone. (3) How to avoid “house-maid’s hands” after washing dishes or clothes :—Even when the skin of your hands is shrunken, red and wrinkled from long contact with strong soaps or washing powders, salt will help make it satin smooth again. Simply pour salt into a basin of warm water (214 teaspoonfuls of salt to every quart). Keep your hands in this healing solution for 5 minutes, Then note how much smoother they feel.
