fruit growing and preserving is unique, but very valuable. It illu- strates also one more of Chivers’ many advantages in providing the best country-made products. A few years ago Messrs. Chivers erected a factory at Huntingdon for the canning of English vegetables. This factory is equipped with the most modern machinery and has re- cently been extended—to-day it is one of the largest vegetable canning factories in Europe. In Scotland, also, Messrs. Chivers have numerous fruit farms all within a few miles distance of their canning factory at Montrose. The fruit grown there is mainly raspberries and straw- berries, and this enterprise provides considerable employment.in the dis- trict all the year round. “From the Orchard to the Home” is the firm’s motto, and the foregoing will show in some measure how this is carried into practice. Because of their high standard of quality Chivers’ products are popular all the world over. The firm is honoured also by appointment as Purveyors of Jams, Jellies, Canned English Fruits and Vegetables to H.M.the King, H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, and H.M. the Queen of Norway. 23 THE DAILY MENU Cas Oe @—-—- VERY housewife delights in serving a different, unexpected delicacy, to make her luncheons, teas, dinners or suppers memorable events.
