4 ozs. McDougall’s Self-raising Flour. Pinch of Salt. 1 rounded table-
spoonful of Cocoa. 2 ozs. Margarine. 2-3 ozs. Sugar, according to taste.
1 Egg or 11/2 tablespoonfuls Water. Vanilla Essence. Cornflakes✪ Chocolate Crunchies.
Sieve the flour, salt and cocoa. Cream the margarine, add the sugar and
beat again until light in colour and fluffy in texture; add the egg or water,
whichever is used, together with a tablespoonful of the sieved flour, etc.,
beating well.
Stir in the essence and the rest of the dry ingredients. Divide into 12 even-
sized pieces. Shape each into a round and roll in crushed cornflakes.
Place on a greased baking sheet. If the mixture contains egg, the Crunchies
can be flattened slightly before baking. If water has been used, leave the
mixture in round balls.
Bake for 15-20 mins.

Foundation

garine. 2 ozs. Sugar. Just under 1/44 pint Milk.
For the Filling
1/2 oz. Melted Margarine. 1/4 teaspoonful Mixed Spice. 4 ozs. Mixed
Fruit. 1 oz. Sugar.
Prepare the foundation ingredients by Method 1 (see page 4). Mix toa
light dough and roll out into an oblong } inch thick. Brush with the melted
margarine, sprinkle the fruit, sugar and spice on, then roll up. Cut off
twelve even-sized pieces with a sharp knife and place cut side down ona
greased baking sheet. Bake for 20 mins.

paste with a fork.
Put on a greased baking sheet in rocky heaps and bake for about 15 mins.
