A lemon, verbena, and any kind of sweet smelling
leaf at hand. Then add half a pound of powdered orris
root, quarter of a pound of cloves, two sticks of

pounded and mixed in with the rose leaves. Sweet-
scented roses should be used.

Gather the lavender flowers when they are full
blown. Lay them out on paper in a dry, sunny
room. When they are sufficiently dry, rub the flowers
off* the stalks, and put the flowers into muslin bags to
lay amongst the household linen.
